7-Storey Building Under Construction Collapses In Lekki, 6 Persons Trapped

In the Lekki neighborhood of Lagos State, a seven-story structure collapsed close to Sand Field Bus Stop, apparently trapping six persons in the debris. Before it was demolished early on Sunday morning, the building, which was situated on Oba Idowu Oniru Street, was reportedly under construction. As efforts were being made to free the victims who were trapped, emergency personnel had been dispatched to the location of the event. Ibrahim Farinloye, the Lagos Territorial Coordinator for the National Emergency Management Agency, responded to the news by confirming the incidence. Seven-story structure fell at Sand Field Bus Stop in Lekki, he declared. Responders are on the ground, and six individuals are reportedly trapped.

In his own reaction, the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, said that upon arrival, it was discovered that the collapsed building was still under construction.

He said, “No injury sustained. However, about six people are said to be trapped under the rubble of the collapsed structure.

“The agency’s heavy duty equipment excavator will be needed for the rescue of the trapped victims. We have activated Lagos State Response plan. The operation is ongoing.
