Ukrainian politician who switched to help President in the war is assasinated alongside his wife at their home in Kherson

A ‘traitor’ Ukrainian politician who switched sides to back Vladimir Putin when he ordered the invasion of Ukraine has been shot to death while his wife was fatally stabbed at their home in the occupied Kherson region.
On Sunday, August 28, Oleksiy Kovalyov, 33, a senior official in charge of agriculture in the military-civilian government in Kherson that was nominated by Moscow was shot and died at his home in the city of Hola Prystan.
According to local media, his 38-year-old wife was also stabbed and had her throat cut during the incident before passing away in the hospital.
The latest in a string of apparent assassinations of Moscow-backed leaders in seized territories, Russian officials said they will look into the attack.
The couple are believed to have been assassinated by a hit squad, local media reports.
Kovalyov had resolutely declared to his Ukrainian enemies: “You won’t stop me” following a previous unsuccessful murder attempt.
Former MP and traitor Oleksiy Kovalyov has been assassinated, according to a statement from a Ukrainian official, Serhiy Khlan.
According to a Telegram channel run by Ukrainian journalist Andrei Tsaplienko, Oleksiy Kovalyov, a traitor and collaborator, was shot and killed in his own home.
